The Local Accent.com to Feature Commentaries on Virginia Writers
The Local Accent.com has begun a series of reviews and
essays highlighting the work of Virginia writers and others whose work touches
on the area’s history and culture.
“We believe that focusing on Virginia authors will have
great appeal to our readers,” says Larry Mazzeno, editor of The Local
Accent.com. “People are always interested in knowing what the writer down the
street is up to, and they’re always keen to learn more about our regions.
Beginning February 1, the magazine’s “River Readers” blog
will feature brief commentaries describing individual works of fiction, poetry,
or nonfiction. In the first installment, veteran writer Sarah Collins
Honenberger reviews The Widow’s Season,
a highly anticipated and much acclaimed novel by Laura Brodie.
In the February 8 installment, Mazzeno will highlight the
work of John Page Williams, an environmentalist who has worked for decades on
issues involving the Chesapeake Bay. Future entries will introduce readers to
the work of other regional writers, including Honenberger, Sharon Baldacci, and
Maggie Stiefvater.
Visitors to The Local Accent.com web site are encouraged to
