Abacus Lighting Ltd Introduce the Next Generation of Club Telescopic Masts

Reinforcing their commitment to design and continual development, Abacus Lighting have unveiled a new range of Club Telescopic masts.

Building on the success of the original range, www.abacuslighting.com have now incorporated their famous base-hinged technology into the new generation Club Telescopic masts. This allows the masts to be lowered to ground level for easy access and ongoing maintenance, ensuring no risk of working at height.   Operator friendly, the masts can now be controlled from either a panel located at the base of each mast or centrally from a club house. There is even a remote coin operation available which allows the floodlights to be turned on and off even when there is no one physically on site – a big advantage for sports facilities trying to generate additional income without the need for someone being there to manage the pitches full time.

Exceeding the maximum height of the original range, the Club Telescopics are available in four models ranging in height from 3.5m to 20m.  They are also designed to carry a higher load capacity of up to five Challenger™ 1kW or 2kW floodlights - meaning even the highest level of lighting requirements can now be catered for.

Abacus’s Sales Director in charge of product development, Mike Hallam, commented:“We’re excited about the opportunities these new masts provide our customers with. As restrictions are being placed on planning applications for sports lighting as more attention is paid to their impact on the environment.  With this in mind, we developed this range to help our customers overcome these restrictions. They are particularly pertinent for projects which do not allow permanent structures to be installed in sensitive locations such as residential areas – as they can be lowered at the touch of a button, thereby minimising their visibility when not in use.”

The Club Range’s “big brother” - Abacus’ Stadium range of Telescopic Masts - was installed at both Lord’s and The Oval cricket stadiums earlier this year, towering up to 50m and carrying up to 100 2kW floodlights each.

Mike concluded: “We are continually re-evaluating our offer and looking to ways to improve our lighting ranges, at both club and stadia level. A key part of our service is the ability to help our customers overcome challenges in planning or on an environmental level.

We have been at the forefront of innovative mast design for the past 50 years and we are already looking to how we can stay ahead of our game for the next 50 years.”
